not at all a one month anniversary thing

( he ought to be writing. really he should be, but time spent with dice and time spent thinking about dice has become a very ardent contender for gentaro’s favorite activity. that, and now that gentaro knows it’s possible to self publish in this world, he feels a bit lighter. it’s true, he hasn’t penned anything worthy of the public eye since arriving here, just a very personal song for his team, but ... he feels reenergized over it all. there’s no need to abide by old ways or old ghosts. this world is his ... second chance.

so he only haphazardly keeps track of when they started dating. and he not at all subconsciously plans a weekend trip to coincide with it. he knows dice has a job now, gentaro has his books, and they have cats, but a couple of days will be fine. someone will look after cat and the little one and it’ll be fine.

the villa had been more of a necessity, a nice little confluence of circumstances that lead them to a romantic escape and falling in love, or admitting that love. this? this was more premeditated and a true escape.

he can’t remember the last time he was at the beach. but with dice it’s something he’s willing to explore, to partake in. so he simply tells dice to pack his bags and that they’ll be leaving in a few minutes for a few days.

crystal beach is beautiful and the cozy resort is gorgeous and reminiscent of where he told dice he loved him for the first time. it’s warmer than back home. it’s — comfortable. )

[Dice has a job now, but he's starting with just a few days a week, so it's not like he doesn't still have copious amounts of free time. Usually that's spent gambling, playing with Cat (and now Prince), or just pretending to nap while watching Gentaro read or (attempt to) write. It's a calm, comfortable life, except for the bells and whistles of the gambling parlors, so he's happy enough.

Still, getting away from the cold for a while sounds perfect. Even if Gentaro springs it on him with only a few minutes of notice, well, that's the way Dice likes it. Of course the author would be mindful of how to keep Dice entertained by keeping him on his toes. Without fuss, he packs up a couple of extra shirts and things, and they head out.

He doesn't expect a beach. A quiet, calm, beautiful place right now, but he can tell it's probably usually a busy place to be. Maybe it's because they're there on a weekday, but Dice is fine with this. There are myriad things to do, places to go, and he's pretty sure he won't get bored.]

...Holy shit, this is my first vacation ever.

[An afterthought, once they've checked in and are heading to their hotel room.]

( gentaro hadn’t really gone on any, either. his adopted family were too broke for that and when they did travel it was to see extended family. a destination purely for this? no strings attached and just relaxation? he can’t quite say he’s done it, either.

but he’s glad dice seems excited. dating someone means getting to know them and how they would like something. it’s a work in progress and he’s just glad he didn’t miss the mark with this one. )

Is that so? ( but he hides the smile behind his sleeve as he uses his other hand to grab the key and unlock the door to their room. ) I’ve never been to the beach before, so this is a new thing for both of us, it seems.

[He feels like a kid at an amusement park, only ten times as peaceful and maybe a little more excited. The brochures recommend spa treatments and couples massages, hot air balloons and kayak rentals. They're in an adult's playground, with a little something for everyone. He's eager to flip through the guide they offered, but more eager still to just be with Gentaro.

The door is opened, and it's such a honeymoon suite of a room that Dice is floored. Well, it might not be penthouse suite material, but the bedding is plush and the room is spacious, with a nice view of the water and a huge bathtub and separate shower in the ample bathroom. He wanders around the room for a full minute, looking at everything, taking it all in...]

You got any plans up your sleeve, or are we playin' it by ear?

By ear. Your spontaneity has rubbed off on me.

( a lot of dice’s little quirks have, honestly. gentaro takes a lot more risks, lies a little less often, values those around him a little more. this vacation is exactly what they need. )

Though, I’d have to insist that if we do go down to the water, it’s near sunset.

( it’s romantic and most people won’t be there. while he has no qualms with dice seeing him naked, he’s still a tad gunshy with regards to strangers. )
